چکیده

With approximate one million new cases every year (Barton, 2012), colon cancer is one of the most severe health burdens all over the world. For stage III colon cancer (T1~4N1~2), standard treatment had been established as radical surgery followed by adjuvant chemotherapy (Moertel et al., 1990; Kuebler et al., 2007; Cassidy et al., 2008) since 1990. However, the treatment outcomes are not as desiredabout 60% stage III patients eventually die from tumor relapse (O’Connell et al., 2004; Giraldez et al., 2013) within five years. Far from a homogeneous patients group, patients with stage III colon cancer in fact harbor subgroups with notably diverse clinical outcomessince the five year survival rate ranges from 44% to 83% (Wong et al.,

Prognostic Value of Lymph Node Ratio in comparison to Lymph Node Metastases in Stage III Colon Cancer

Background & Objectives: Colon cancer is currently of high incidence and mortality rate. Identifying the factors influencing its prognosis can be very beneficial to its clinical treatment. Recent studies have shown that lymph nodes ratio can be considered as an important prognostic factor. The aim of the present study is to investigate the effect of this factor on the prognosis of the ...

Prognostic efficacy of inflammation-based markers in patients with curative colorectal cancer resection

AIM To evaluate the prognostic significance of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio (LMR), and prognostic nutritional index (PNI) and other clinicopathological factors in patients undergoing curative resection of colon cancer. METHODS 183 patients with histologically proven colorectal cancer who had undergone potentially curati...

Prognostic value of preoperative prognostic nutritional index and its associations with systemic inflammatory response markers in patients with stage III colon cancer

BACKGROUND The prognostic nutritional index (PNI) has been widely applied for predicting survival outcomes of patients with various malignant tumors. Although a low PNI predicts poor prognosis in patients with colorectal cancer after tumor resection, the prognostic value remains unknown in patients with stage III colon cancer undergoing curative tumor resection followed by adjuvant chemotherapy...

The expression of chemokine receptors CXCR3 and CXCR4 in predicting postoperative tumour progression in stages I-II colon cancer: a retrospective study

OBJECTIVES The prognostic significance of chemokine receptors in stage I/II colon cancer is unclear. We assessed the prognostic value of chemokine receptor CXCR3 and CXCR4 in stage I/II colon cancer. METHODS 145 patients with stage I/II colon cancer who underwent curative surgery alone from 2000 to 2007 were investigated. Chemokine receptor expression was assessed by immunohistochemistry. The...
